Those familiar with crazy Nigerian MC, Denrele Edun would know how
far he goes to please fans. One of such was his crazy dance on stage
that left him drenched in his own blood after a fall. On January 18,
2016, eccentric master of ceremony Denrele Edun took to social media to
share a blood-soiled picture on social network. Attached to this picture
were words of Denrele saying “True, artistes suffer for their craft,
but perhaps no artiste has suffered like myself on this hustle of mine
all in a bid to make my acting more convincing. I was supposed to drop
into a faint in the very first scene of the movie, “PEPPER SOUP” but I
guess I miscalculated and fell hard on a metallic object on the floor
that pierced my face”. he wrote.
While some thought it was a stunt, the energetic MC has come out to
debunk such unfound claims saying the “Accident was real” In his
narration he explained “I was on set for a particular production. In the
scene, they were meant to push me and I was supposed to fall and wake
up the next day in the hospital, but I think the guy over pushed me and
then when I fell on a rock which pierced my face”
It turned out to be a blessing for Denrele who made the best out of the
situation. Rather than panic, the scene was recorded as part of the
show. According to his explanation “Everybody on set was panic-stricken;
they were like “Jesuuu”! eleyi ti o leje lara (dis one wey no get blood
for body). While they were panicking, I decided not to panic so I was
just very calm about it while the blood was rolling down my face.. I
said, oya record it now and put in the film. I didn’t just bleed for
nothing, so I just had to be as calm as I could and we managed to dress
it”
It was an opportunity to share his thoughts on the importance of
creating adequate information on how to tackle Lassa fever. In his
commendation of the awareness created by the Lagos State Government he
said “I like the fact that the Lagos State Government is hammering so
much on Lassa fever. It is good, the last time around it was bird flu,
we didn’t take it serious. Let us join hands together to fight this”.
